Immigration Response Protocols

  • At ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥, we are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students and their families. We understand that recent conversations around immigration enforcement may raise concerns for some members of our community. To support all of our families, we want to share important information and resources that protect your rights and your child’s access to education.

    Your Rights Are Protected

Every child in California has the right to attend school free of discrimination, intimidation, or fear. Schools do not require proof of immigration status to enroll your child, and your personal information is safeguarded by law.

In accordance with California state law and district policy, immigration enforcement officers are not permitted access to students, school grounds, or student records without a valid judicial warrant, court order, or parental consent.

The district strictly adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which protects student information from disclosure unless legally required. ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that our campuses are places of learning, free from fear or discrimination, and that all students have the right to a safe and supportive educational experience.

    Resources to Support You

We would like to share two important resources that can provide guidance and reassurance:

This guide explains your right to a free public education, what is needed for enrollment, and how your family’s personal information is protected. It also includes tips for creating a safety plan for your family.  It is currently available in English and Spanish, with additional translations coming soon.
    2. Red Cards
All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home. These cards are available at FUSD School offices in English and Spanish, with availability in 16 languages from the Immigrant Legal Resources Center (Ilrc). To download cards, .
