Miss Castro has been a member of the Fontana community since 1983. Although she has never lived in the city of Fontana, she has been an active member of the girl scouts in this area and volunteered with the Fontana Mummers back in the early 2000s. Prior to her career in education, she worked as a scenic artist and props technician for the San Bernardino Civic Light Opera, and while in college she interned with The Western Stage which produces shows out of Hartnell College in Salinas, California.

She studied Graphic Design and Scenic Design from California State University San Bernardino and earned her Bachelors of Arts in both disciplines in 2001.  Although most of her teaching career has been dedicated to teaching lower-division English classes, she is glad to teach Eric Birch High School students foundational art concepts and for those interested in learning about theater practices she is the advisor for the Eric Birch High School Drama Club.  She is also the yearbook advisor and the advisor for the school publication, Birch Bulletin.
