Background:
Since its inception in 2018, Ballet Folklórico de Fontana Middle School’s vision and mission has been to bring culturally relevant performing arts opportunities to its students. The group has participated in numerous events including a ÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ School Board meeting, city-wide parades, and cultural events such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Cinco de Mayo, and Día De Los Muertos celebrations. They have been featured in the Fontana Herald and have been highlighted in FUSD’s Empowerment promotional video which released July 2022.

Purpose:
Participation in Ballet Folklórico builds character, cultural identity, and community. Students develop character through their hard work and commitment to the program. They must have good grades, attend school consistently, and follow the CARES school-wide behavior expectations. Students develop a strong sense of cultural identity through participation in the program. They take pride in their heritage by performing their cultural dance on a larger platform. Lastly, community is developed by bringing stakeholders together at district and city events. The program is inclusive and invites students of all cultures and backgrounds to join!
