Principal's Message
From Mr. Mike Bunten:
We hope you are ready for the 2024-2025 school year.  As always, Citrus High School continues to be committed to school safety, supporting best instruction, and providing additional social-emotional and academic support for our students.
Citrus High School offers a credit recovery model that provides all students an alternative pathway to meet their graduation requirements while also providing grade level courses that prepare students for college, career, and life. Students that work through their individualized graduation plans can recover credits and transfer back to their home Comprehensive High School or stay with Citrus High School and graduate as a Jaguar.
We focus on differentiated instruction that is tailored to meet the needs of all students in preparing students to meet their academic goals, graduation requirements, and be prepared for college, career, and life.
In the area of Career Technical Education, Citrus High School has a Building Trades and Construction Pathway that prepares students through OSHA and NCCER industry recognized certifications that prepare students for apprenticeships, entry into the Carpenters Union, or entry into Community College for advanced industry certifications.
To support our students social-emotional learning we have Multi-Tiered System of Supports with two full time Counselors, Climate & Culture Specialist, and a Licensed Therapist. Citrus High School has school wide expectations that are founded in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. We are also focused on incentivizing the school wide expectations through the implementation of PBIS rewards.
Another way we engage students is through our participation in the Inland Empire Alternative Sports League with competitions in the following sports: softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. We are excited for what the 24-25 school year will bring and look forward to supporting all our students with meeting their college, career, and life goals.

Assistant Principal
Ms. Leonor Delaguila
Ms. Delaguila, better known as Ms. D to my students have lived in California all of my life. I was born and raised in Los Angeles to my parents who came from Peru to pursue the "American Dream." Sadly, my mother passed away when I was eight years old, and life was never the same without her guidance and love. Life wasn't easy as the realities of the world unveiled struggles without a proper education.
I was homeless at 17 with only a minimum wage job to cover food and clothing, since rent was unattainable, I lived out of my car. Thankfully, I had some good friends who looked out after me and provided me with running water and warm blankets. I returned to school after many years to better myself and become fully independent. Now with over 20 years in the educational field, I have dedicated my career to nurturing and inspiring students.
I earned my bachelor's degree in Anthropology from UCLA and a master's in education from Pepperdine University. My teaching journey began in middle school in Compton, California, before I transitioned to a continuation high school, where I found my true calling.
I am proud to call Citrus High School my home, a place where students discover their hidden talents and pursue goals they once thought impossible. My passion for education is matched by my commitment to personal well-being, which I maintain through long-distance running and working out. I am also a proud parent of two adult children and eagerly await the arrival of my first grandson. Despite the curiosity about how I secured an administrative role with numerous tattoos, I believe my story is a testament to the power of education and the rewards of great sacrifice.
