College & Financial Aid Applications
Seniors—Have you completed your applications for community college and financial aid yet? See your counselor for help; you will need your social security # (if you have one). If you already submitted your application(s), please forward your confirmation page to Ms Callanta at callaa@fusd.net Remember, you will get up to 2 free graduation ceremony tickets for submitting your college & financial aid applications.
Jostens
Seniors – Jostens will be on campus this week, Tues & Wed, March 10 & 11, during lunch in the quad. This is your opportunity to purchase graduation items, especially your cap & gown. If you choose to rent your cap & gown, you do not need to pay any money (free rental), but you still need to submit an order form to reserve the correct size. Parents are welcome to come. If you need a Jostens order form, pick one up from your counselor or the front office.
Senior Contracts and Events
Reminder—Senior contracts are due by Fri, March 20, to your counselor. Contracts must be signed by student AND parent, even if you are 18 years old. Also, the handout listing all the Senior activities will be distributed later this week. Please note that there a few slight changes to the info that was originally provided at the Senior meeting. If you have any questions, please see your counselor or Ms Willis.
Grad Bash at Universal Studios
Graduating Seniors – Celebrate your accomplishment at Universal Studios on May 28. Tickets will be on sale during the week of April 6-10 only (this is a change from what was announced during the Senior meeting). Tickets are $95, cash only.
Field Trip: San Bernardino Valley College
We will be visiting San Bernardino Valley College on Friday, April 10, to tour the campus and learn about their programs and services. Sign up and pick up permission forms from your counselor. Priority will be given to Seniors.

Chaffey Super Saturday
Complete your Chaffey enrollment steps (orientation, placement, and ed planning) in ONE day—at Super Saturday on March 7 at the Fontana or Rancho Cucamonga campus. Submit your online application, obtain your Chaffey ID number, then call to reserve your seat. See your counselor for more information.
Senior Assembly
Seniors, make sure you attend the Senior assembly on Wed, March 4, during 4th period. You will receive important information about ordering your cap & gown, graduation, Senior contract, and other year-end events. Also that day, counselors will be helping Seniors complete college & financial aid applications, so be prepared!
SAT Day
Juniors, on Wed, March 4, you will be taking the SAT exam. Do your best--this is one way to demonstrate your knowledge and progress!

Chaffey College Orientation & Ed Plan Session
Seniors—If you already completed your Chaffey application, the Chaffey counselors will be on campus to conduct orientation and ed planning on Thursday, Feb 27, during per 5-7. Take advantage of this session at Birch; otherwise you would have to make an appointment to do this at a Chaffey campus

Fontana Adult School is hosting a College & Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb 25 from 4:30-7:00pm. There will be representatives from: Chaffey College, SB Valley College, Career Institute, Salon Success Academy, Job Corps, Platt College, San Joaquin Valley College, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Universal Technical Institute (UTI), Center for Employment Training (CET), Technical Employment Training, US Army, US Coast Guard. There will also be companies looking to hire new employees--Amazon, FedEx, Staffmark, and more. Go check it out!

From Arts, Media, and Entertainment to Health Sciences and Medical Technology, discover programs that will help prepare you for the future. Check out the FUSD Career Pathways Showcase on Thurs, Feb 27, from 4:00-6:00pm at Lewis Library.

Assembly District 47 Young Legislators Program
Juniors—Develop your leadership skills while learning about state government services & the legislative process! The Young Legislators Program consists of one meeting per month for 9 months (starting in March), culminating with a graduation ceremony and a trip to Sacramento in 2021. If you have a positive attitude, creative spirit, ability to work in a team-based setting, and leadership potential, then apply at Applications are due on Friday, Feb 28.

Seniors—Counselors will be meeting with you during the next few weeks to help you complete your community college and financial aid applications. Be ready with the necessary information; you will need at least your Social Security number (if you have one) to get started. If you already submitted your application(s), please forward your confirmation page to Ms Callanta at callaa@fusd.net Remember, you will get a free graduation ceremony ticket for submitting your application (two max--one for college app, one for financial aid app). Also, there’s a competition among the Senior English classes—the first class where all students complete both applications will be treated to pizza and yummy goodies!
Chaffey Super Saturday
Seniors—after you have submitted your online Chaffey College application, you can complete the rest of the enrollment steps (orientation, placement, and education planning) in ONE day at a Super Saturday event! The next one is Sat, March 7, at any Chaffey campus. Call in advance (909) 652-6200 to reserve your seat.

Picture Day
Photos will be taken TOMORROW, Tues, Jan 28. ALL Seniors will take a cap & gown photo for the yearbook and graduation slide show. Gentlemen, please bring a collared dress shirt & tie to wear underneath the gown. Seniors can also reserve extra time to take photos; see Ms Aurora to make an appointment. Juniors who enrolled after mid-September will also be taking photos for ID cards and yearbook. Don’t be absent!

The Army recruiter will be giving a lunchtime presentation on Wed, Jan 29. Sign up with your counselor to attend.

Citizenship & DACA Renewal Workshop
Chaffey College + community agencies are hosting a workshop on Wed, Jan 29, from 4:00-7:00pm, at the Rancho Cucamonga campus, room WH142, where families can get assistance with citizenship applications and DACA renewals. Take a photo of the flyer posted on the Community Resources bulletin board. Please spread the word to anyone who may be interested.

Chaffey College SET (Senior Early Transition)
Seniors who signed up for the Chaffey workshop series—The first one is TOMORROW, Tues, Jan 22, at 9:00am. Chaffey staff will help you submit your online college application. Please arrive at school on time; passes will be given during period 2. Please be ready with a personal email address and your Social Security number, if you have one.
Saturday Law Enforcement Class
Juniors—Law Enforcement Academy is offered at Fontana HS every Saturday from 7:30am-4:00pm. It is a year-long program, so you need to attend this semester and next fall semester. Earn 10 credits each semester while you learn valuable skills. Sign up with your counselor this week.
Space & Aviation Event
Interested in becoming a pilot or astronaut? Attend a free event on Sat, Jan 25, at Ontario Airport. There will be exhibits, guest speakers, and a Pilot & Astronaut Orientation. Open to all students, ages 13-18. For more information and mandatory registration, go to www.eventbrite.com and search for “OIAA Ontario.”

Welcome Barons! New year, new quarter/semester -- Do your best!
Schedule Changes
If there is an ERROR on your schedule, please submit a pink “Schedule Change Request” form to your counselor before/after school or during lunch only (not during class time). Forms are located on bulletin boards around campus. Fill out the form completely and explain why you believe you need a schedule change. Deadline: Thursday, Jan 16, lunchtime. Remember, you may not request to change teachers or class order.
Saturday Law Enforcement Class

Senior Early Graduates
Students who are in the early grad classes--Please check your grades on Q during winter break. If you failed any classes, please return to school on Tues, Jan 14.
Seniors Returning to Home School
Seniors who intend to return to their home school in January must report back to Birch on Tues, Jan 14. Please check your grades & credits on Q during winter break. You must have at least 200 credits and passed all classes, so that all you need is Sr English (5 credits), Govt or Econ (5 credits), and electives (20 credits) during semester 2. If you have any questions, please see your counselor this week.
CTE classes at Fohi
If you are taking the Law Enforcement, Fire Tech, or EMT class at Fontana HS, please see your counselor this week to register for the semester 2 advanced course. Beginning Law Enforcement class is also available to students who are willing to commit to two semesters.

Senior Survey
Seniors, please log in to your Naviance account and take a few minutes to complete the Eric Birch High School Post-Secondary Survey. Website is student.naviance.com/birchhigh; user name=your id# and password=your id# again. On the home page, look for the section “Important To-Dos and Tasks” where you will find the survey assigned by Ms Callanta.
Work Permits
If you get hired during winter break, you can get your work permit at the District office. They will be open until Fri, Dec 20, but will be closed from Dec 23 to Jan 1. The work permit office will re-open Jan 2. Hours are 9:00am to 3:30pm. You must have good attendance & behavior, plus minimum gpa of 2.0 or higher.
Please note: work permit applications submitted after 3:00pm on Dec 19 will not be ready until Jan 2 afternoon.
