Welcome to the North Tamarind Library
This is the place where you can expect to get lost in a book. Our focus is to bring books to life, especially for our reluctant readers. Here, students will enjoy Read Alouds, book discussions, book scene acting, and other such activities. Students will also receive all textbooks needed, as we as, laptop assistance. Throughout the school year, our students have the opportunity to participate in several challenges: Heritage Month Bookmark Contest, Adobe Express Challenge, and Book Battles.
We celebrate four heritage months during the school year: Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15-Oct 15), Native American Heritage Month (November), African American Heritage Month (February), Women's History Month (March), Asian Pacific Heritage Month (May). Students are to consider culture, historical significance, etc. to design a bookmark. One winner is chosen each heritage in celebration via student vote and their design is printed for each student and staff to have.
The Adobe Express Challenge is a monthly challenge that encourages students to develop their skills using the software. Winning designs are chosen via student vote and those students are acknowledged on our library website and across the Parent Square platform.
Book Battles are a District-wide competition encouraging students to read the listed books provided to each school library. Students form groups to study with and their groups battle each other at their home school site. The winning group from each school site will go on to battle sites across the District. The winning group will then bring a trophy to be displayed at their school site for the school year.
