Established in 1991, Fontana High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC) was designated as a "Naval Honor School" for its 18th time for the 2023-2024 academic year by Headquarters Marine Corps.  The top 20% of all MCJROTC programs throughout the United States and overseas earn this distinction.  Annually, the top unit in each of the four regions earns the Marine Corps Reserve Association (MCRA) Honor Unit, the most prestigious unit award.  We earned this distinction in 1996, 1999, 2022, and 2024.

MissionOur mission is to develop honorable, courageous, character-driven young adults who possess the attributes of personal responsibility and accountability in order to become model citizens in service to the United States.  Simply put, to develop character and citizenship in the youth of America.

Purpose:  The purpose of the Fontana High School MCJROTC Program is to instill in our students the value of citizenship, service to the United States, self-discipline, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.

The purpose of the MCJROTC Program is NOT to recruit members for the U.S. Armed Forces and there is no service obligation to participate in the program.  Upon request, however, the Marine Instructors will assist individual cadets in seeking entrance into any branch of the armed services, a service academy, or college.  Cadets will also receive information on the full scholarship programs available through the Naval ROTC at major universities.

    Objectives:

    1. Develop informed and responsible citizens
    2. Develop better reading and critical thinking skills
    3. Give students an appreciation for the origin, advantages, and responsibility of citizenship
    4. Develop an understanding of leadership skills and the advantages of a strong moral character
    5. Promote an understanding of the need and application of national security
    6. Develop a sense of pride and personal discipline

We look forward to working with this year's cadets.  We are confident that all cadets will enjoy a challenging and informative year in our program.

    Semper Fidelis,

Marine Corps Reserve Association (MCRA) Honor Unit
