Jurupa Hills High Students Accepted to University of California Summer STEM Programs
FONTANA, CA – Jurupa Hills High School students Carlos Ortega-Cuellar and Elian Lintang will explore college-level science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects through the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS), a four-week residential program for high-achieving math and science students.
Ortega-Cuellar and Lintang will work with University of California faculty, researchers and scientists as they engage in hands-on, lab-intensive STEM courses and learn more about educational and career options in STEM fields.
Students who have demonstrated academic excellence and hold at least a 3.5 GPA can apply to COSMOS at one of four campuses: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego or UC Santa Cruz. Fewer than 200 students are selected to study at each campus every summer.
Ortega-Cuellar will study engineering mechanics at UC Davis while Lintag will study engineering at UC San Diego.
